Seatbelt Buckled!

So what's up with this blog title, "Seatbelt Buckled"?

Many years ago when I was first dipping my toes into serving in the short-term mission field in Dulac, Louisiana, there would be days, sometimes hours, when God was so "on the move" that all I could do was buckle my seatbelt and hold on for the wild ride that was to come. The best days were those when I could call my husband or a close friend, and ask, "Do you have your seatbelt buckled?", and then proceed to tell them everything that had been going on.

I suppose it's natural that there are seasons of wild & crazy rides with God, followed by those that are more like a float on the lazy river ... and even those that are like falling out of the inner tube and feeling for a minute as though we're drowning.

Recently I've feel like I'd better keep my seatbelt buckled all the time! This is good and fun and a bit hectic ... and as long as it's all for Kingdom purposes, I'm all in! I wonder, though, about those seasons of having my seatbelt buckled for worldly purposes ... do I realize when I'm "there"? Am I committed enough to get off the worldly crazy train ... even if I'm enjoying the ride?

I had to chuckle at this picture and the caption, "Belt up ... For Life" ... it made me immediately think of Jesus' words, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." (John 14:6)  Jesus is The Life, and His Way is the ONLY Way I really want to be on. So yes, I will "Belt Up ... For Life", trusting Jesus every step, curve, puddle, mountaintop, valley, and pothole along the way - His Way!

Is your seatbelt buckled? It's going to be a wild ride and I don't want to miss a moment of it!
